As Steve Jobs announced on September 1st at a conference in San Francisco, Apple presented the iOS 4.1 operating system on Wednesday. It brought several new functions. Let's imagine them together now.
Game Center
As the name itself suggests, this is a game center that you enter using your Apple ID. You can add friends and share your best results and records with each other. It's essentially a social gaming network connecting a community of iOS gamers.
Rent TV Shows
Also new is the option to subscribe to individual series via the iTunes Store directly from the iPhone. The offer includes the most famous series of the American TV companies FOX and ABC. Unfortunately, this service, like the entire iTunes Store, simply does not work in the Czech Republic.
iTunes Ping
Ping is a social network connected to music, which was introduced by Steve Jobs last week together with the new version of iTunes 10. However, just like the previous novelty in iOS 4.1. it is useless for our country.
HDR photography
HDR is a photography system that will make your iPhone photos more perfect than before. The principle of HDR consists in taking three photos, from which one perfect photo is subsequently created. Both the HDR photo and the other three images are saved. Unfortunately, this trick only works on the iPhone 4, so owners of older devices are out of luck.
Uploading HD videos to Youtube and MobileMe
Only iPhone 4 and iPod touch owners of the fourth generation will appreciate this update, as these devices are the only ones capable of recording videos in HD resolution.
Another new and long-discussed feature is speed improvement on the iPhone 3G. Whether it will really work better than iOS 4 is a question that only time and the level of satisfaction of 2nd generation iPhone owners can tell. According to the reviews so far, it seems that the update to iOS 4.1 really means acceleration, although in most cases it is still not quite ideal.
Personally, I appreciate the HDR photos and the ability to upload HD videos the most, even though this is probably only usable on WiFi. It will certainly be interesting to watch the success and expansion of the Game Center, it is doing well in the first days. And we've already touched on the speed on the iPhone 3G. And what do you say about the combination of your iPhone 3G and iOS 4.1?
4.1 is indeed faster on 3G than 4.0.2, however, even in this case I went down the path of downgrading to 3.1.3, as the speed difference is still noticeable and it's just not worth the few little things. A nimble system still takes precedence over nerves on the go :)
and have you tried turning off all items in spotlight?
Exactly, unfortunately I have the same experience :(
I can't judge the 3G, but the 3GS now runs like a slingshot, and in addition, it seems to me that ios4.1 manages memory better and kills apps than before, and thanks to this, the system has more free memory and less crashes. (according to testing on the iInfo Pro application - probably not on the appstore anymore, only the freeck version).
so how can you write "3GS runs like a slingshot" and in the next sentence that there are fewer crashes. Either it runs as it should and there are no crashes, or it's shit again, like all 4.xx versions. Ever since Apple released iOs 4 and enabled it on the 3GS, the main and essential function of the iPhone stopped working for me, and that, in my opinion, is calling. With iOs 4 I am not able to make a longer call than about 5 minutes. The phone then automatically restarts during the call. This thread shows that I'm not alone: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12246200&tstart=0#12246200 in which there are already over 1300 posts with the same problem. Unfortunately, it looks like version 4.1 didn't fix this problem either. The only workable solution is an illegal downgrade to 3.1.3.
I am based on my experience with my 3Gs, no restarts or bites, which followed with 4.0 after an application crash that killed the system.
I have a non-JB phone, do you have a JB? I know people in the area with only 3Gs and no reboots. Try a clean restore.
The phone is clean, never had a JB. If you're ever bored, go through the thread I'm referring to. Everything possible and impossible was tried. The last solution that still works is to install an application that frees up memory (for example, Activity monitor) and manually kill all applications running in the background. Then it doesn't crash and you can make calls normally. It looks like a problem with how iOs handles memory. But it is true that in that thread Apple replaced the phone for some users and the replacement helped. So it probably only affects some 3GS.
I must say that a noticeable acceleration
My iPhone 3G actually sped up a bit after installing iOS 4.1 — but I feel like it's not as fast as iOS 3.* When opening some apps, the screen remains blank for a few seconds before something happens.
Yesterday I installed the new iOS 4.1 on my iPhone 3g 16gb and I have a problem.. Whoever calls me, I can't hang up on them. as if the entire lower part of the display did not respond.. and I have such a problem with calls as well.. I want to click on the list nothing.. nothing on missed calls.. Does anyone know what to do with it? is it a fault of the new iOS? or just a problem with my iphone? It only bothers me in the calls :( which is quite a problem :( it didn't work before the new iOS..
It happened to me yesterday that I unlocked the phone and no icon could be clicked. I had to lock and unlock the phone again.
Try to restore and load iOS again. If it only does this in the calls app and not anywhere else, it's definitely a software problem.
Rob: it also sounds like a defective piece to me, if it was flat, it would smear the print more than the antennagate.
It doesn't blur, no one cares about the 3GS anymore. Everyone is only focused on the iPhone4. It may be a defective piece, but how come with 3.1.3. does it run without any problems? And what's more, there are probably over 1000 of us. The press and more publicity will hopefully be possible, a FB group was already established yesterday http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=158568190823303&ref=search .
All those affected feel that Apple has damaged them with the release of iOS 4, as it has turned a flawless working fast phone into an unusable brick that restarts during calls and won't even allow them to legally revert to 3.1.3. It's really a great advertisement for Apple when before every phone call with my customers I have to tell them: "you know, I have an iPhone and it can happen that it interrupts us during the call and then it takes about 3 minutes for it to start up, so if done, I'll call you again"…
Here's something for that..

I don't think it will help, but at least something...
Well, the ice seems to be moving. At least now I'm sure that Apple knows about the problem:

Yes, I'm joining, I have a 3GS 4.0.2 and my phone really freezes at certain times and my apps crash. yesterday it even happened to me that when I was looking for a contact via Spotlight, the contact opened for me in about 10 seconds and when I clicked on the number, nothing happened on the screen, but the handset rang and I couldn't even end the call and had to I'm waiting for the counterparty.. So there's probably something wrong with the fact that the iOS 4 version won't be fully debugged..
for me 4.1 is a big disappointment; I have a 3GS and I don't notice any change (the speed seems quite subjective to me, it's still the same (fast)), HDR photos nothing, ping doesn't interest me that much, I'm not going to cheer because of Game Center... so yield = 0.
the worst thing is that Apple's much-criticized arrogant approach to customers is actually manifested here in how they manage to ignore (and only now the penultimate) phone advice without blinking an eye; the fact that a lot of things work under 3GS and not under 3G, so be it - but this, it's outright bullshit :-/
the only reason for updates are security reasons (payments), otherwise I doubt that anything will change - from now on we just go for the iPhone 4, and who doesn't want to shell out 15 for a device, when less than a year ago he shelled out 15 for the previous model, so cus >: O
So 3g is finally working again for me on 4.1, but it's no glory. At least I don't have to keep turning on Free memory to free up memory. I'm just like I was two years ago with PDA. Memory is running low and apps are crashing. If someone asked me what the disappointment of the year is for me, I would say Apple… (I don't mean just my "outdated" iP 3G, but all the hype around it)
I don't know if anyone has already noticed this, but in the network settings there is an option to disable the mobile connection
I noticed that, but it's definitely not new in 4.1. At least my iPhone 4 already had it when it came to me from the operator, therefore from 4.0.2.
Finally, sending SMS with O4.1 CZ works for me on 2 on a cloned SIM card. SimEmu emulation with the SimEmu 6.01 program works without problems, so one data plan and data for both iPhone 4 and iPad without removing the Simka.
That would suit me. So what do I have to do?
All on http://jecny.cz/wwwold/ section GSM clones.
The condition is a SIM card older than min. 8 years or knowledge of KI number of all cards.
With newer cards, it is not easy to find out with a reader.
we have seen and recommend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyNkoZ7gmGY
That's right - unfortunately, when the new update comes out, I'm looking to see if it's possible to change the tone of the SMS message to any tone and still nothing - only a couple of factory tones... When the hell will it be allowed? This is seriously tragic... :-(
Rob: I would see the reason here:
"I have now fixed this problem. Went to Apple Store and "Genius" knew the problem. She said that during the upgrade something interfered with the update and corrupted a file (probably the anti-virus). She said she would reformat the phone and restore the operating system. Problem has now disappeared"
I have already tried all these procedures (not only me). But the problem still persists. So I have to say that I don't have a problem other than the restarts during phone calls. But this is a fundamental and insurmountable thing, because it simply cannot be called. As soon as the call lasts more than 5 minutes, it will restart. Shorter calls under 5 minutes are fine. I went back to 3.1.3 and everything is OK again. I just still can't believe it's a HW problem.
I just can't understand why Apple doesn't allow a legal rollback to 3.1.3 and complicates our lives with unfinished iOS 4. But I believe it will move now see: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-20012962-233.html?tag=mncol and they will have to make an official statement about it, someone has already recorded a statement from a technician that the problem will be fixed in 4.1.1
If they announced on the fair that they know about the problem and are solving it, then everything is OK, but the silence is frustrating and pisses off customers.
Well, it helped the person from the quote, so reinstall the OS and download your 4.1 again, you obviously got used to the installation. Nothing you wrote didn't work for me and no one from the neighborhood has a problem with it on 3gs either... Apple fixes it so that it doesn't get used anymore, but it doesn't announce it to the world when it concerns a minority, 1000 or 10000 people are a minority, iPhones have millions of people. I have a mac and widle friends. So it won't even be an os on the computer. It's the same as in the discussions where they cry that different ios versions drain the battery... nothing similar has happened to me or anyone I know and I have 5+ iPhones around, including my work colleague. I had the first iPhone 2G, if you could see how many things I did with JB... Then 3G, now 3GS, I'm taking care of the 4 as well... If it's a mistake of the specific production series... then ok, I'll admit that you can't do anything about it, if it's Apple but genius is right (and I believe he is) then it's just a crappy update crushed by a firewall/antivirus...
simple answer: don't call for so long! You are irradiating your brain unnecessarily and leave long-term conversations to Skype :-)
So tested on my girlfriend's 3G, the UI response is definitely smoother, games are less choppy. But what I was hoping for didn't happen after installing 4.0. WiFi has stopped working, the phone does not find networks, here and there at home a push pops up asking me to enter the password to my network, but it says that the password is incorrect even though it is. Network reset, router reset does not work. 4.1 didn't fix it. There were also articles on the net that perhaps by increasing the power by 4.x to 3g, the WiFi chip explodes. I'm still hoping, has anyone had a similar experience?
Otherwise, nothing about the 3GS update. I probably don't use Game Center much and that's all. Oh, and the bug "yesterday" instead of yesterday will be there until iOS 5 :-D
grandpa always said that a customer comes back when he sees that the merchant likes him... but I have the feeling that if I have a G3, I'm kind of written off for Apple...
I have 3G and it works great with 4.1, it's probably because I don't overload the phone unnecessarily with crap and I use it more with an orientation to the office than to games and multimedia... As for the speed, I feel no loss of performance and therefore I have no reason to go back to 3. x ….
I noticed a significant speedup on the iPod touch 2G - anyone else?
