Apple released iOS 4.1 beta today, which is likely to fix several bugs, most notably an issue with displaying the correct signal bars. For now, it's only available to developers, don't expect it to be released to the public in the next few days.

The new iOS 4.1 will probably be released to the public later, but it is possible that iOS 4.0.1 will appear in the meantime, which will fix at least the signal display problem and Apple will hide some news until version 4.1, but we'll see. We're still figuring out what's new in iOS 4.1, but it looks like Apple has at least updated the call/data modem firmware.

Miroslav Buček posted a screenshot from iOS 4.1 on Twitter, where you can notice the new signal indicator.
