The unveiling of the expected iOS 17 operating system is literally around the corner. Apple presents new systems every year on the occasion of the WWDC developer conference, which this year will start with the opening keynote on Monday, June 5, 2023. Soon we will see all the news that Apple has prepared for us. Of course, we will not only be talking about iOS, but also about other systems such as iPadOS, watchOS, macOS. It is therefore not surprising that at the moment the apple-growing community is dealing with almost nothing else than what news and changes will actually come.

Of course, iOS gets the most attention as the most widespread apple system. In addition, interesting news has been spreading recently that iOS 17 should be literally packed with all kinds of new features, despite the fact that a few months ago practically zero innovations were expected. But from the looks of it, we have a lot to look forward to. Apple is even planning certain changes for Siri. As great as it may sound, the details are not so groundbreaking. Unfortunately, the opposite is true.

Siri and Dynamic Island

According to the latest information, as we already mentioned above, changes are also being prepared for Siri. Apple's virtual assistant could change its design form. Instead of the round logo on the bottom of the display, the indicator could be moved to the Dynamic Island, a relatively new element that only two Apple phones currently have – the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. But on the other hand, this shows in which direction Apple might like to go. This would prepare the software for future iPhones. Other possible improvements also go hand in hand with this. It is possible that, in theory, it would be possible to continue using the iPhone, despite the activation of Siri, which is currently not possible. Although no speculation mentions such a change yet, it certainly wouldn't hurt if Apple played with this idea. Apple users have already suggested several times that it would not be harmful if the activation of Siri did not limit the functionality of the Apple device in this way.

Is this the change we want?

But this brings us to a relatively more fundamental question. Is this really the change we've been wanting for so long? Apple users do not exactly react positively to the speculation and the move of Siri to Dynamic Island, quite the opposite. They are absolutely not enthusiastic about her, and for a fairly clear reason. For several years now, users have been actively calling for a fundamental improvement to Siri. It is true that Apple's virtual assistant lags noticeably behind its competition, which earned it the title of "dumbest assistant". That's where the fundamental problem lies - Siri, compared to the competition in the form of Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, can't do that much.

It is therefore not surprising that rather than changing the user interface and design elements, users would much rather welcome much more extensive changes that might not be so easily visible at first glance. But as it seems, Apple has no such thing, at least for now.
