Apple has released the RC version of iOS 17.2, that is, one that is almost final. We should wait for the release of the sharp version until Christmas, that is, in the week of December 11, and with it Apple will provide iPhones with several new functions and options that have not yet been fully discussed.

Of course, the Diary app will still be the main one, but with regard to the published list of changes, we learned that the iPhone 15 Pro will improve its photography skills, that we will be able to enjoy more weather widgets, and that older iPhones will learn something that the Android world has done quite well so far ignores

Qi2 standard

iPhones 15 were the first smartphones to offer support for Qi2. This will then be extended to older models with iOS 17.2. Although we already have the Qi2 standard here, its acceptance is quite slow. In other words, there is actually no date yet, when it should start, especially next year. Android phones could also come with it, but until then it will be the prerogative of iPhones, specifically the 15 series and the iPhones 14 and 13. However, the iPhone 12, which was the first to come with MagSafe, was forgotten for some reason.

This simply means that these three generations of iPhones will work with Qi2 standard chargers from third-party manufacturers, which will be able to charge them with a maximum power of 15W (we hope so, because it is not yet confirmed). Just to remind you - the biggest novelty of Qi2 is that it contains magnets just like MagSafe. After all, Apple actively participated in the development of the standard.

iPhone 15 Pro cameras

In the release notes for iOS 17.2, Apple states that the update includes "improved telephoto focus speed when shooting small distant objects on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max." So it should improve not only the work with telephoto lenses, but also their results, of course. However, this is not the only news. We will also see the possibility of recording spatial video, which was presented at the presentation of the iPhone 15 Pro and which is intended mainly for consumption on the Vision Pro.

New Weather widgets

For the Weather app, three new types of widgets join the standard forecast option. While they're limited to just one size, a small, it's nice to see expanded options that include more data. It's about Details, which will show the probability of precipitation, UV index, wind strength and more, Daily forecast, which informs about the conditions for the given place and Sunrise and sunset. The original widget only offers the current temperature (high and low for the day), and current conditions (cloudy, clear, etc.).
