On Monday, September 12, Apple released a sharp version of its iOS 16 mobile system, which is considered one of the biggest updates since the "flat" iOS 7. This is because the most important thing here is visible at first glance - a redesigned lock screen. But there are many, many more novelties, most of which are also very beneficial.

I don't even remember when I updated a major version of iOS myself on the day it was officially released. I usually waited another week before I was sure that the version didn't suffer from some childhood diseases that Apple usually fixes with the hundredth update shortly after the release of the main version. This year with iOS 16 it was different and at 20 pm I already had it on my iPhone. Not only was I genuinely curious about the new lock screen, I was actually looking forward to it. Why?

Finally a change

It's something else. Since Apple introduced the iPhone X, there hasn't been much going on visually, except for a few details. However, iOS 16 finally gives the user the opportunity to personalize their device more, perhaps a little along the lines of Android, but in Apple's own style, i.e. user-friendly. In addition, Apple clearly refers to history here, i.e. the first iPhone 2G, which brought a wallpaper of the planet Earth or a spotted clown. It's nice, although it's true that I've set one wallpaper and one skin that I'll probably stick with for a while.

But according to Mixpanel's survey, iOS 16 is not only successful in my case. According to her analysis namely, after 24 hours when iOS 16 was available, 6,71% of iPhone owners installed it, while iOS 15 was downloaded by 6,48% of iPhone users at the time. It can be seen that not only the function but also the visual plays a big role, especially when the speed of adoption gradually decreased in general. iOS 14 was installed by 9,22% of users on the first day, and it was the version that brought greater support for widgets. Of course, this is also influenced by the number of devices for which the new systems are available.

iOS 15 was more of a pandemic version of the system focused on improving communication, although SharePlay was not part of the first release, which was the reason for less adoption of the system. Now Apple has combined both ways – i.e. visual and communication. Apart from the redesigned appearance, we have at least two other very useful novelties. This is the possibility of canceling the sending of an iMessage or e-mail, as well as editing an already sent message, etc. These are small things, but they can save a person from many hot moments.

Thanks for Face ID

What is absolutely incredible is the ability to unlock the device using Face ID in landscape. Now just add the layout of the surfaces in landscape mode and it will be "almost" perfect. It is interesting that there is not much talk about Face ID, while for example in a car during navigation, when the display goes out for some reason, it is not only unpleasant to turn it and unlock it, but also dangerous (even when it comes to entering the code).

Safari news doesn't tell me anything, I use Chrome, the news in Maps doesn't work, I use Google Maps. The option to isolate an object from a photo is nice and effective, but its use is zero in my case. Photos, Notes, keyboard and much more have also received news. You can find the complete list <a href="https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1932/8043/files/200721_ODSTOUPENI_BEZ_UDANI_DUVODU__EN.pdf?v=1595428404" data-gt-href-en="https://en.notsofunnyany.com/">here</a>.

I have to say that iOS 16 has done well and is really a version that makes sense in everyday use. Plus, you can finally put a battery percentage indicator in its icon, though whether you'll like the interface is questionable. In any case, you don't have to do that either, if you're satisfied with how the battery charge capacity has been displayed until now. Now just one wish: Add a sound manager.
