Beta versions of the new operating systems iOS and iPadOS 16, macOS 13 Ventura and watchOS 9 have been with us for several weeks. Currently, as of this writing, the second developer beta is available, which comes with a few improvements, but mostly bug fixes. Many users rely on the native Mail email client. However, it doesn't add much in terms of functionality, and there are alternatives with more features for advanced users. Anyway, as part of iOS 16, native Mail received very interesting improvements, and we will show one of them in this article.

iOS 16: How to unsend an email

Quite possibly, you have already found yourself in a situation where you sent an e-mail, but then immediately found out that it was not an ideal solution - for example, you could have forgotten to attach an attachment, you chose the wrong recipient, etc. Within the alternative e-mail For a long time now, clients have had a function that makes it possible to simply cancel the sending of an email a few seconds after sending, so that it will not be sent. This is exactly what native Mail has now received as part of iOS 16. If you would like to find out how to cancel sending an email, then proceed as follows:

  • First, on your iPhone with iOS 16 installed, go to the app Mail
  • Classic here create a new email, or to any answer.
  • Once you have your email ready, send it send in the classic way.
  • However, after sending, tap at the bottom of the screen Cancel send.

So, using the above procedure, it is possible to unsend an email on your iOS 16 iPhone in the native Mail app. Specifically, you have 10 straight seconds to cancel this, which if you miss, there is simply no going back. In any case, I think that 10 seconds is relatively enough for thinking or realizing, so this time will definitely be enough. It is worth mentioning that this feature works very simply - you click on the send button, and the email will not be sent immediately, but in 10 seconds, unless you cancel the send. This does not mean that the e-mail will be delivered immediately after sending, but that if you cancel the sending, it will mysteriously disappear from the recipient's inbox.
