As part of the recently introduced iOS 16 system, we can find countless great new features that are definitely worth checking out. However, the lock screen has undoubtedly received the biggest changes, which is completely redesigned and offers countless new functions that users have been calling for for a long time. Specifically, we can now change the style and color of the clock on the locked screen, we can also add widgets to it, and last but not least, we can also use very interesting and great-looking dynamic wallpapers, which of course have several different preset options. Everyone will definitely find something for themselves.

iOS 16: How to connect focus mode to the lock screen

However, one more great feature has been added that works directly with one of the biggest news in iOS 15 – focus modes. In those, you can set several modes, in which you can individually choose which applications will be able to send you notifications and possibly which contacts will be able to contact you. However, with the brand new lock screen comes the ability to link focus mode. So if you activate a focus mode, your lock screen may automatically change to a different one. The setup is as follows:

  • First, you need to be on an iPhone with iOS 16 moved to the lock screen – so lock your phone.
  • Then turn on the display and authorize yourself using Touch ID or Face ID, but Don't unlock your iPhone.
  • Once you do so, on the current lock screen hold your finger which will take you to edit mode.
  • In the list of all the locked screens you now find the one you want to link to focus mode.
  • Then tap the button at the bottom of the lock screen preview Focus mode.
  • Now just the menu is enough tap to select focus mode, with which the lock screen should be linked.
  • Once you have selected the mode, just tap on cross a exit edit mode lock screen.

So, using the above procedure, it is possible to link the lock screen with focus mode on your iPhone with iOS 16 installed. So if you now activate in any way the focus mode that you have linked to the locked screen, it will be automatically set. And if you turn off the mode, it will return to the original lock screen. If you would also like to link the home screen and the watch face on the Apple Watch to the concentration mode, just go to Settings → Concentration, where you can choose a specific mode. Here, then scroll down to Customize Screens and make changes.
