A few days ago, Apple released the fifth beta version of its operating systems iOS and iPadOS 16, macOS 13 Ventura and watchOS 9. Even though most of the new features were already presented by the Californian giant at its presentation and have been part of the systems since the first beta versions, every new beta version has always had news for the time being that we had no idea about. It is exactly the same in the fifth beta version of iOS 16, in which Apple specifically, among other things, added a percentage indicator of the battery status on iPhones with Face ID. Users no longer need to open the control center to view the exact battery charge status.

iOS 16: How to Enable Battery Percentage Indicator

If you've updated your iPhone to the fifth iOS 16 beta, but you're not seeing the battery status indicator with percentages, you're not alone. Some users simply don't have this feature enabled and all you have to do is turn it on. It is definitely not complicated and just follow the following procedure:

  • First, you need to go to the native app on your iPhone Settings.
  • Once you've done that, scroll down a bit to find and click on the section Battery.
  • Here you only need to switch activated function Battery status.

Using the above procedure, it is therefore possible to simply activate the battery percentage indicator on your iPhone with Face ID, i.e. with a notch. But it must be mentioned that for some reason this feature is not available on the iPhone XR, 11, 12 mini and 13 mini, which is definitely a shame. In addition, it is necessary to get used to the percentage indicator. You'd probably expect the battery charge icon itself to change even when the percentage is displayed, but that's not the case. This means that the battery looks like it's fully charged all the time, and only changes its appearance when it gets below 20%, when it turns red and shows a small charge status on the left. You can see the differences below.
