The iOS 14 operating system finally brought practical widgets to apple phones, which could then be placed anywhere on the desktop. Although this is a completely normal thing for users of competing phones with the Android system, in the apple world it was a rather fundamental change that apple fans have been calling for for a long time. Unfortunately, even here, nothing is perfect. According to some users, widgets are behind and their use is not as comfortable as it could be. However, it is quite possible that he is looking forward to better times.

Yesterday, an extremely interesting news about the upcoming version of the operating system flew through the apple-growing community. On the Internet the first iOS 16 screenshot leaked, which was shared by a leaker going by the name LeaksApplePro. He has long been considered one of the best and most accurate leakers ever, and therefore the current report can be taken quite seriously. But let's move on to the screenshot itself. It is immediately apparent that Apple is toying with the idea of so-called interactive widgets, which could finally be used to control the tool without having to launch the application directly.

Interactive widgets

Let's quickly summarize how an interactive widget can work and why it's actually good to have something similar. Currently, widgets are quite boring, as they can only show us certain information, but if we want to do something, it is necessary (through them) to open the app directly. This difference can be seen at first glance in the mentioned picture. In particular, we can notice, for example, a widget for Music, with the help of which it would be possible to immediately switch tracks, or turn on the Stopwatch and the like. There could be several such possibilities and we must admit that this would be a change in the right direction.

At the same time, it is quite evident that Apple was inspired by other developers who already offer partly interactive widgets. For example, we can cite the Google Maps application, whose widget works interactively in that it displays your location and traffic in the given area on the map.

What this means for developers

Some Apple users have begun to speculate whether this change will be the same as when the Night Shift function was implemented or when the keyboard arrived on the Apple Watch. Although these options were not previously part of the operating systems themselves, you could still enjoy their options to the full - through applications. But the Cupertino giant was most likely inspired by these apps and transferred their idea directly to iOS/watchOS.

However, the current situation is slightly different, as the incoming change should only affect native application widgets. On the other hand, it is also possible that iOS 16 could help developers in this regard. If Apple had provided them with additional tools for creating interactive widgets, it would be highly likely that we would see them significantly more often in the final.
