At the developer conference WWDC21, which took place more than three weeks ago, we saw the presentation of new versions of its operating systems from Apple. In particular, Apple came up with iOS and iPadOS 15, macOS 12 Monterey, watchOS 8 and tvOS 15. Immediately after the end of the initial presentation at WWDC21, the first developer beta versions of the mentioned systems were released, so developers could try them immediately. A few days ago, we also saw the release of public beta versions, so that absolutely everyone can finally try the mentioned systems. There are more than enough new functions in the systems and we cover them every day in our magazine. In this article, we will specifically look at a new feature from Mail.

iOS 15: How to activate the privacy feature in Mail

If someone sends you an email, they can track how you interact with it in certain ways. In particular, it can, for example, find out when you opened the e-mail, or it can track other activity associated with the e-mail. In most cases, this tracking occurs through an invisible pixel that is added to the body of the email. However, there is a new feature in iOS 15 that ensures perfect privacy protection. It is called Protect activity in Mail and you can activate it as follows:

  • First, you need to go to the native app on your iOS 15 iPhone Settings.
  • Once you've done that, scroll down a bit to locate and click on the line with the name Post.
  • Then, on the next screen, scroll down again to the category News.
  • Next, in this category, click on the box with the name Privacy Protection.
  • Finally, all you have to do is use the switch activated possibility Protect Mail activity.

Once you activate the above function, you can be sure that iPhone will do everything to protect your activity in Mail. Specifically, after activating the Protect Activity function in Mail, your IP address will be hidden, and remote content will then be loaded anonymously in the background, even if you do not open the message. You make it harder for these senders to track your activity in the Mail app. In addition, the mentioned feature will guarantee that neither senders nor Apple will be able to obtain information about how you work in the Mail application. Then when you receive a new e-mail, instead of downloading it every time you open it, it will be downloaded only once, regardless of what you do with the e-mail. And much more.
