A very controversial feature that was talked about almost all of last year arrived in iOS 13.1. This much-anticipated update brings a performance tuning tool to last year's iPhones. In practice, this means that the iPhone XS (Max) and iPhone XR will now also be able to be slowed down by software in cases where it is necessary.

If you don't know what this is, Apple admitted last year that it implemented a special software tool in iOS that contradicts the rate of battery wear. Once the battery wear status drops below 80%, the tool noticeably slows down the CPU and GPU, theoretically avoiding unstable system behavior. After long debates, Apple finally admitted the color and in the end at least allowed users to turn this setting off or on - with some risk.

The same setting will now appear for owners of last year's iPhones, i.e. the XS, XS Max and XR models. It can be expected that this procedure will be repeated in the coming years, and all iPhones, one year after their release, will receive this functionality.

As part of the feature, Apple allows users to either use the phone in performance-restricted mode (when the battery wear rate falls below 80%) or leave it in its original state, with the risk of eventual crashes caused by the worn-out battery not being able to deliver the required amount of power under load parameters.
