It will be almost a year since the Golden Master version of iOS 11 discovered images of AirPods with a new charging case that was supposed to support wireless charging. Even Apple itself subsequently confirmed at the September conference that a new generation of Apple headphones is planned and along with that announced a wireless pad AirPower, which will be able to charge the headphone case. Year after year, it almost came together and not one of the products made its debut. Last, iOS 12 fifth beta however, it suggests that AirPods with wireless charging support should be coming soon.

iOS 12 beta 5 contains more images of the new case for AirPods, the biggest innovation of which will be support for wireless charging. At first glance, one small change is visible from the pictures – the diode indicating the charging of the case and headphones, or full charge, is newly located on the front of the case, while the current generation hides it inside. The reason for the relocation is logical, as this way the user will immediately know that the case is charged and will not be forced to remove it from the pad and open it.

That Apple is indeed preparing new AirPods is also indicated by the product label itself. The new generation bears the identifier AirPods1,2, while the current one is referred to as AirPods1,1. However, it is still a question whether, apart from the case for wireless charging, the new AirPods will bring any other news. There is speculation, for example, about water resistance or the function of active noise suppression (noise-cancelling), but the price should also increase along with this.

According to available information, the new case with support for wireless charging should also be sold separately, so owners of the first generation could buy it. The price will probably be higher than three thousand crowns. The current case is sold separately for 2 CZK.
