Already tomorrow, we will see the iOS 12.1 operating system update. The fact was confirmed by several operators who are preparing to launch eSIM support, which will arrive on the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max with the new version of the system. As is usual with Apple, the new version will bring several new features and bug fixes. Let's therefore summarize what major news we will see this time.

Group FaceTime calls

Group FaceTime calls received a lot of attention at this year's WWDC, and are among the most anticipated features in iOS 12. We haven't seen it in the official release of the operating system yet, because it still needed a little fine-tuning. But it appeared in beta versions of iOS 12.1, which means that we will most likely see it in the official version as well. Group FaceTime calls allow up to 32 participants, both audio-only and video. Unfortunately, only iPhone 6s and later will support it.

eSIM support

Some users have been calling for dual SIM support in iPhones for a long time, but Apple only implemented it in this year's models. These have (in some countries of the world, including the Czech Republic) eSIM support, which should start working with iOS 12.1. But they also need support from the operator.

70+ new Emojis

Emoji. Some love them and can't imagine a conversation without them, but there are those who blame Apple for focusing too heavily on these emoticons. In iOS 12.1, Apple will serve up seventy of them to users, including new symbols, animals, food, superheroes and more.

Real-Time Depth Control

Among the news that will come with the operating system iOS 12.1 will also include real-time Depth Control for iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. Their owners will be able to control portrait mode effects, such as bokeh, directly while taking a photo, while Depth Control in the current version of iOS allows adjustments only after the photo is taken.

Small but important improvements

The upcoming update of the mobile Apple operating system will also bring a number of minor improvements. These include, for example, tweaks to the Measurements AR app, which should be much more accurate. In addition, the most common errors will be corrected, such as a charging problem, or a bug that caused iPhones to prefer slower Wi-Fi networks.
