Not long ago we were Skylake processors they mentioned in thoughts what the impact might be on the new Macs. Now, adding to our supposed claim is a leak from Intel itself, revealing in a few slides what real improvements will come with the new architecture.
As you can see, the new processors offer a 10-20% increase in computing power in single-threaded and multi-threaded applications. Their consumption has also been reduced, which should result in up to 30% longer battery life. Intel HD graphics will also clearly improve, by as much as 30% compared to the current Broadwell platform.
Different MacBooks will then offer different branches of the new processors, which we will now take a closer look at:
- Y-Series (MacBook): Up to 17% faster CPU, up to 41% faster Intel HD graphics, up to 1,4 hours longer battery life.
- U-Series (MacBook Air): Up to 10% faster CPU, up to 34% faster Intel HD graphics, up to 1,4 hours longer battery life.
- H-Series (MacBook Pro): Up to 11% faster CPU, up to 16% faster Intel HD graphics, up to 80% energy savings.
- S-Series (iMac): Up to 11% faster CPU, up to 28% faster Intel HD Graphics, 22% lower thermal performance.
We could then expect new Macs equipped with new processors towards the end of 2015 or the beginning of 2016. Rumor has it that Intel's plans include releasing 18 new processors in the fourth quarter of this year, which could be used in the new Mac computers.
According to the test, it looks completely different, I can't find it, but the performance was an average of 6% against Broadwell, the graphics lasted a maximum of 20%, but it was not tested there.
I think this test was for a desktop i7 :-) Then it was taken down immediately because it probably shouldn't have been published yet.
So for the iMac, an acceleration of 11%..here we are chasing percentages, but perhaps even in 2016, the 57 iMac will be sold with a hard disk. I stopped understanding their politics a long time ago. . MBP with ultra-fast PCIe memory and magnetic HDD recording on the iMac.
After all, a person will have to pay extra, or he can put together a much faster computer with an SSD drive himself for 15000 and a license for Windows 10. Actually, it's about min. The components cost me 8500 on the Alge, but that was with a 1T normal HDD. Then I bought a 3500GB SSD for 250. Ubuntu whizzed like crazy on it. Now newly installed Win 10 and it is perhaps even faster. I still don't know how much the license will cost me. I don't have Win 7, 8 or 8.1 so I will have to pay for it. The price was about $150 online. Now I will have to put the 6000 into the graphics. I want to play Project Cars and F1 2015. But the fact is that the design of the iMac is better. The question is, is it worth the money?
