AirDrop for easy wireless file transfer between Macs was a great idea from Apple, but it hasn't been followed through yet. Until Czech developers from Two Man Show programmed the application Instashare, which allows for an equally simple transfer for iOS devices as well.

I deal with moving files between iOS devices and a Mac all the time. As a rule, these are images for me, or to be more precise, screen prints, which I constantly come into contact with due to reviewing and other activities related to writing. I have already tried many solutions to get files from iPhone or iPad to Mac as quickly and easily as possible. However, no method has yet offered such convenience as Instashare.

I've tried mail, Dropbox, Photo Stream, or cable, but Instashare beats them all. You don't need any registrations, just pair your devices via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, turn on the app, select a file and it will be instantly transferred to the other device. Simple and effective.

In addition, the developers also paid attention to the user interface, so overall the application works very well, i.e. both the one for iOS and the client for Mac. The Instashare iOS app consists of three main screens: the first shows the files you can share; the second displays your photo albums for easy access; the third is used for settings and also for purchasing the ad-free version, which costs 0,79 euros.

The process of sharing individual files is very intuitive. Just hold your finger on any of them and a list of devices with which the file can be shared will immediately pop up - in other words, drag & drop in iOS. However, you don't have to send only photos and images, but you can also open documents (PDF, text documents, presentations, etc.) from other applications, for example from Dropbox or GoodReader, in Instashare.

The Instashare Mac client works on the same principle and is placed in the top menu bar. You select a file, drag it into the application window and "drop" it onto the selected device where you want to move the file. The Mac app is currently in beta (download here), but as soon as it is ready in a sharp version, it will appear in the Mac App Store. The price should not be high.

Whatever it is, I'm sure I'll be happy to pay. Just like I did on the iPhone, where a single euro for an excellent ad-free app is really worth it. The only thing missing from Two Man Show so far is Instashare for iPad. However, it is already in the production stage, and if all goes according to plan, it should appear in the App Store at the end of next week.
