Instagram has announced a new feature that clearly attacks rival Snapchat. What's new are the so-called "Instagram Stories", with which users can share their photos and videos for a limited period of 24 hours, just like on Snapchat.

The new feature works very similarly to the original one on Snapchat. In short, the user has the opportunity to show off the visual content to the world, which disappears after twenty-four hours. You can find the "Stories" section in the top bar of Instagram, from where you can also view the stories of other users.

"Stories" can also be commented on, but only through private messages. Users also have the option of saving their favorite stories to their profile.

Instagram comments on the news in a way that it does not want users to "worry about overloading their account". This makes sense, but it cannot be denied that they took this step also for reasons of competitiveness. Snapchat is becoming an increasingly popular service, and the social network under the banner of Facebook cannot afford to fall behind. In addition, it turns out that native "stories" are very popular on Snapchat.

Some users are already reporting that Stories have appeared on Instagram, especially with the latest small update, but Instagram itself says that it will only launch the new feature globally in the coming weeks. So if you don't have Stories yet, just wait.
