The 37th week is slowly coming to an end. It's Friday again, followed by two days off in the form of the weekend. While just a few days ago it looked like summer was completely gone, today the forecast says that the "thirties" should return in the next few days. These last few days can quite possibly be considered the last days of summer, so make the most of them. But before that, don't forget to read our IT roundup, in which we traditionally look at the most interesting things that happened in the IT world during the day. Today we'll take a look at Instagram's take on Apple's new security features. In the next news, we will inform you about the launch of sales of Microsoft Surface Duo and finally we will look at a possible competitor AirPods Pro.

While Facebook worries about Apple, Instagram is neutral

It's been a few days since we saw you informed about the fact that Facebook is starting to have some problems with Apple. Specifically, Facebook has issues with Apple's security features that protect users' privacy while browsing the web. On the one hand, for us users, these features are of course great - the web services are not able to collect any data about us, so there is no ad targeting. Let's face it, none of us wants a company to collect certain data and then leak or sell it. Specifically, Facebook says that Apple's security features are causing up to a 50% drop in ad revenue. This is of course bad news for Facebook and other companies that benefit mainly from advertising, but at least users as such can see that the security of Apple systems is not just an eye, and that it is really a real thing. The new functions with which Apple is supposed to prevent users from being tracked were originally supposed to come with iOS 14. However, in the end, the apple company, mainly due to negative reactions from other companies, decided to postpone the launch of these functions until 2021.

The CEO of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, also commented on this situation. Despite the fact that Facebook owns Instagram, Mosseri has a slightly different view of the whole situation and states the following: "If there are such big changes that advertisers will not be able to really measure the return on investment, then of course it will be somewhat problematic for our business. However, it will still be problematic for all other large advertising platforms, so in the long term I am definitely not afraid or worried about these changes. This will be most problematic for small businesses that rely on us on Instagram to target the most relevant customers with paid advertising. Of course, the current coronavirus pandemic does not help either, when small companies simply need to kick on," said Adam Mosseri. In addition, Instagram's CEO believes that they will find a way to give people 100% control over their data. At the same time, he is sure that all data collection practices will be completely transparent.

Microsoft has started selling the Surface Duo

The market for smartphones that offer two displays is constantly growing. Microsoft has also come up with one such device - specifically, it is called Microsoft Surface Duo, and it has found many admirers among users. The Surface Duo runs on the Android operating system, offers two 5.6″ OLED panels with an aspect ratio of 4:3. These two panels are then joined by a joint, and overall, a surface is created that has an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a size of 8.1″. Said joint can then be rotated up to 360 degrees, which is handy if you only want to use one screen at a time. The Surface Duo is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 along with 6GB of DRAM and you can configure up to 256GB of storage. There is a high-quality 11 Mpix f/2.0 camera, Bluetooth 5.0, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, USB-C 3.1 and a 3 mAh battery, which, according to Microsoft, will guarantee endurance for the whole day. We saw the presentation of Surface Duo already in October 577, after a point with Surface Neo. After almost a year, you can finally get a Surface Duo for $2019 for the 1399GB variant, or $128 for the 1499GB variant.

Bose QuietComfort or competition for AirPods Pro

It's been a few months since Apple introduced AirPods Pro – revolutionary in-ear headphones that were the first in the world to come with active noise cancellation. Since then, quite a few headphones have appeared on the market that were supposed to compete with AirPods - but there are quite a few that have really succeeded. Bose plans to launch one such competitor soon, namely QuietComfort headphones. These are true-wireless wireless in-ear headphones, which therefore offer active noise cancellation. Bose uses special StayHear Max silicone tips for these headphones, which offer comfort, perfect fit and complete ear sealing. Quality microphones are a matter of course, but there is also a permeability mode, which is a bit more sophisticated with the Bose QuietComfort than with the AirPods – specifically, it offers up to 11 different modes. These headphones then offer IP-X4 certification, so they are resistant to sweat and rain, in addition to offering up to 6 hours of battery life on a single charge. Two more charges are then provided by the charging case, which can also charge the headphones for 15 hours of music playback in 2 minutes. Bose should ship the first units of these headphones on September 29.
