In a new post on your blog Instagram has published information that it will soon overhaul the system by which posts are sorted on this popular photo-social network. It is said that Instagram users miss about 70 percent of posts that would be of interest to them every day. And that's exactly what Instagram wants to fight with the help of a new algorithmic ranking, which is used, for example, by Facebook.

Therefore, the order of contributions will no longer be controlled by a mere time sequence, but will be determined by a number of factors. The network will offer you photos and videos based on how close you are to their author. Circumstances such as the number of your likes and comments on individual posts on Instagram will also be taken into account.

“If your favorite musician posts a video from their night concert, that video will be waiting for you when you wake up in the morning, regardless of how many different users you follow and what time zone you live in. And when your best friend posts a photo of her new puppy, you won't miss it.”

The news is expected to take effect soon, but Instagram also says that it will listen to user feedback and adjust the algorithm in the coming months. Perhaps we are still waiting for an interesting development of the situation.

Many users value time sequences in the sorting of posts, and they probably do not welcome the algorithmic sorting of photos and videos with too much enthusiasm. More active users who follow hundreds of accounts, however, will probably appreciate the novelty. Such users do not have time to view all new posts, and only a special algorithm can guarantee that they will not miss the posts that interest them the most.
