Those interested in the most powerful iMac Pro got it after more than a month of waiting. Configurations with more powerful processors have finally been put into circulation and the first pieces are heading to their lucky owners. It will thus complement the "standard" models with basic processors that Apple has been selling since the end of December. Until now, it has been waiting for Apple to have a sufficient number of more powerful processors available.

Those who ordered the stronger configurations the fastest should receive them on February 6th. According to foreign websites that have information from their readers, the first iMac Pros with 14 and 18 core processors are already on their way. However, this information only applies to owners in the United States. Those from other countries will have to wait an extra week.

The new iMac Pro:

If we look in the configurator of the Czech mutation of the official Apple website, the basic configuration with an 8-core processor is immediately available. The interested party will have to wait about two weeks for the version with a 10-core processor (surcharge 25,-). The version with a 600-core processor will be available in two to four weeks (surcharge 14,- compared to the basic configuration) and the top model with an 51-core Xeon will also wait two to four weeks (in this case, the surcharge is 200) compared to the basic configuration).

It will be very interesting to see how the machines cope with the system TDP on these more powerful variants. As we were able to see for ourselves with the basic model, it also very quickly reaches the limit, after crossing which classic CPU throttling occurs. In addition, Apple has set the cooling to be as quiet as possible at all costs, even at the expense of cooling efficiency. The processor thus hovers in temperatures over 90 degrees under load, although it should not be a problem to cool it down better. User settings of the cooling system curves are not yet available. For top configurations, the TDP problem will be even more noticeable. The first tests will be very interesting.
