Apple has already started pre-sales of the 24″ iMac with the M1 chip, and according to a new market research report, it is most likely to become the leader in sales of All-In-One computers this year. It should thus surpass HP, not only because of the new thin design, but also partly because of the advantage it has in the chip supply chain, which is currently in short supply worldwide.

All-in-One computers (all in one), also referred to by the abbreviation AIO, are rather a smaller computer market. This is of course due to their design, where they offer a combination of all the hardware infrastructure combined with an integrated monitor. Apple already bet on this solution in 1984, when it introduced its legendary Macintosh, and in 1998 followed it up with the first iMac, nicknamed the G3. Their advantage is that they take up less space, the disadvantage is that you cannot replace their display with a better or bigger one over the years.

Of course, Apple is not the only one offering such solutions to consumers. He also has a successful series in his portfolio the HP company, which scores with a combination of a wide range of available display angles combined with a pleasant design, performance and, of course, price. Model touch it also adds a touch screen. However, the manufacturer does not need to be left behind Dell.

A few aces up his sleeve

However, compared to other manufacturers, Apple has several advantages, with the help of which its new iMac M1 should have reached the first place in total sales in this "sub-segment" of the market. They are:

  • A new unseen design
  • M1 chips
  • More than a billion iPhones in the world

Design simply like it, even if the chin under the display and the white frame around it are causing some controversy. However, the selection from a wide range of colors, in which the accessories are tuned, the new keyboard with TouchID and the ideally large monitor are clear arguments for why you will want to look at the new iMac. Just because of the modern look, it doesn't make much sense to reach for older generations.

Own M1 chips assigns Apple to TSMC, with which it has many years of experience, but also, above all, good relations that enable it to negotiate exclusive deliveries of large series of chips. Magazine DigiTimes for example states: "As chip and other component suppliers prioritize their shipments supporting high-end products like the iMac, Apple is likely to overtake HP as the top All-in-One PC supplier, according to industry sources." Tim Cook then he let it be heard, that he expects limited supply, but definitely not limited demand for the new iMac models. In addition, analysts also expect that a 32" iMac with M1 could appear this year, which would satisfy even the most demanding users and perhaps replace the canceled iMac Pro. This is also taken into account in the sales outlook.

And there is more than enough in the world to do all this a billion iPhones and still various recurring lockdowns. What does it mean? That computer sales are still growing because people are still working from home. And since I'm already one of the billions who owns an iPhone, why not buy an Apple computer too? And why not just an iMac if I already have a laptop (MacBook) or know that I will continue to work from home? After all, it's a more convenient solution than crouching down at a laptop or constantly dealing with adapters, adapters, cables...
