If you need to play a video within the macOS operating system, you can primarily do so using QuickTime Player. But the truth is that this player has easily fallen asleep. When playing certain formats, QuickTime often performs a lengthy conversion, and not everyone may be comfortable with this application. I have personally been using an alternative free player called IINA. It can be said that IINA is in a way the opposite of QucikTime - the developers are trying to make the IINA player as modern as possible.
When I mentioned in the last paragraph that the developers are trying to make the IINA player as modern as possible, I meant everything. IINA has a modern graphical interface that is simple and clean. The appearance of the player fits in with contemporary applications and design. But it is not only the design that makes the IINA player a quality and modern player. This is mainly due to the framework used and also the fact that IINA supports functions in the form of Force Touch or Picture-in-Picture, but there is also support for the Touch Bar, which you can find on all the latest MacBook Pros. We can also mention the dark mode support, if you want Dark Mode, which you can set either "hard", or it will take into account the current system mode. In addition, we can also mention the possibility of using the Online Subtitles function to display subtitles for movies without downloading, Music Mode for playing music, or the Plugin System, thanks to which you can add various functions to the IINA application using plugins.
The IINA player can play virtually any video or music format. Playing local files is a matter of course with the player, but within the IINA player you can also play files from cloud storage, from a home NAS station, or from YouTube or online live broadcasts. IINA also boasts that it is an open source project, meaning that anyone can take the player's code and modify it - you can do so on GitHub. The fact that IINA is translated into more than 20 different world languages is also pleasing - and of course Czech cannot be missing, just like Slovak. IINA is available absolutely free of charge
I agree with the article. A few years ago I switched from VLC to IINU and I am satisfied.
I don't know if I'm seeing it wrong or if it's AirPlay that's wrong. What a shame.
The IINA developers reportedly wanted to add AirPlay capability to the app, but had a problem with some kind of "verification" from Apple, which allegedly doesn't allow all developers to use AirPlay. In this case, the situation can be solved simply by using the AirPlay icon in the top bar to activate the transfer of the entire screen of your Mac or MacBook.
This is not a quality transmission. I recommend Airflow for this, it transmits 4K HDR just fine through AppleTV. Otherwise, IINA is lean. I agree and I also recommend it. I switched from MplayerX, which actually probably doesn't even exist anymore.
