Apple relies on its own iCloud cloud service for its operating systems, which has become an integral part of them in recent years. Today, it can therefore be used for a number of different cases, namely from synchronizing files, data and other information, to backing up devices. iCloud thus represents a relatively practical helper, without which we simply cannot do. What makes it worse is that, although service is extremely important for apple products, it is in some ways lagging behind its competition and literally not keeping up with the times.

In the case of iCloud, Apple is facing a lot of criticism, even from Apple users themselves. Although the service pretends to be used for backing up all the user's data, its main goal is just their simple synchronization, which is, after all, the main problem. Backup in the true sense of the word is simply not a priority. This also results in the absence of a relatively essential function that we would have found years ago in the case of competing cloud services.

iCloud cannot stream files

In this regard, we encounter the inability to stream (broadcast) files to a given device in real time. Something like this has long been a reality for Google Drive or OneDrive, for example, where on our computers we can simply choose which files we want to download to our device and have so-called offline access to them, and which, on the other hand, we are content with if they are only projected to us , without being physically present on the respective disk. This trick significantly saves us disk space. There is no need to mindlessly download all the data to the Mac and synchronize it with every change, when it can be stored in the cloud all the time.

Of course, this situation does not have to concern only files, but it applies to practically everything that iCloud can deal with. A great example would be photos and videos that always try to download to the device for easier access. Unfortunately, we ourselves do not have the ability to influence which will actually always be downloaded to the device, and which will, on the contrary, only be accessible in the cloud storage.

iCloud does its job perfectly

But in the end, we return to what we mentioned above - iCloud is simply not focused on backups. The goal is synchronization, which, by the way, it handles perfectly. The task of iCloud is to ensure that all the necessary data will be available to the user, regardless of which device he uses. From this point of view, it is unnecessary to implement the mentioned function for online and offline use of files. Are you satisfied with the current form of iCloud, or would you rather raise it to the level of competing Google Drive or OneDrive?
