In recent years, IBM has become famous for the freedom of choice it has provided to its employees when it comes to choosing the brand of a work computer. At the 2015 conference, IBM announced the launch of the Mac@IBM program. The project was supposed to provide the company with a reduction in costs, an increase in work efficiency and simpler support. In 2016 and 2018, the head of the IT division, Fletcher Previn, announced that the company managed to save significantly thanks to the use of Macs, both financially and in terms of personnel - 277 employees were enough to support 78 thousand Apple devices.

IBM's introduction of Macs to the business has clearly paid off, and today the company has revealed more benefits of using Macs in the workplace. The performance of employees who use Macs for work exceeded original expectations by 22% compared to those who used Windows computers, according to an IBM survey. "The state of IT is a daily reflection of how IBM feels about its employees," Previn said. "Our goal is to create a productive environment for employees and to constantly improve their work experience, which is why we introduced a choice program to IBM employees in 2015," he added.

According to the survey, IBM employees who use Macs are one percent less likely to leave the company than those who work on Windows computers. At the moment, we can find 200 devices with the macOS operating system at IBM, which require seven engineers to support, while supporting Windows devices requires twenty engineers.
