The game iBlast Moki is another of the many "puzzle" games that we can find hundreds of in the App Store. But this one is supposed to be different. iBlast Moki gets excellent reviews from most reviewers, and as we can read in the game description, the editors of IGN even declared it the best game in its category for 2009.

However, it does not receive such an excellent evaluation from the players. So how does this gaming venture actually fare?

I think somewhere in between. iBlast Moki is definitely not the best game you can play on your device, but it's definitely above average. But there will also be something about the embarrassing evaluation of the players. I pause to think that I only found out about this game when it was offered for free on the App Store a few days ago. My uncertain impressions didn't waver even after starting the game.

Bombs for Moki

It will probably come as no surprise that in this game you have to get the main character, this time a monster called Moki, from point A to point B. The only way to do that is with bombs that you have to place near Moki to blast him where he wants to go, so into some kind of teleport. He will carry it home. You have to rely on the physics of the game to help you with this, which will help you with the indicator, which will always show you approximately where you will detonate Moki when you place the bomb. Not much later, the path becomes more difficult and various obstacles appear on it. Here comes one of the best moments of the game. You will have to preset some bombs so that they explode when Moki reaches them. For this you will need a good guess, or patience to try and repeat the level over and over again. In many games, the constant repetition would get boring, but not here. Even if you change the bomb explosion by just 5 seconds, Moki will always go somewhere else and you might just find the right way to the destination. In order to get a gold medal at the end of each level, in addition to having a good time, you will also have to collect all the daisies along your way, which for some reason just happen to be there. The whole game is practically based on trial and error. After you detonate the first bomb, you can always one-touch Moki back to the start if he's not facing where he should.

Waterland is the best

In the game, 6 different worlds with 85 levels are waiting for you. First World - Mokiland is a classic tutorial. Blowingland – this is where various objects begin to appear on the way, which you have to blast with the right timing. I found it the most interesting so far Waterland, where your location is, as the name suggests, underwater, and the physics match it too. Archimedes' law applies here, light objects float on water, heavy objects sink to the bottom. I'm still in Mountainland, where the main novelty is a rope with which you can connect things, or perhaps tie Moki to an inflatable balloon. The next two worlds bear the name Induland a Mokitozor. If you finish all the levels, the level editor is waiting for you, where you can create your own and share it with other players. You can also play their levels, which ensures practically endless fun.

To go back to my insecurities I felt about the game at the beginning. I was troubled by the fact that I had the first two worlds blown in no time, and I had to think longer than just a few levels. Everything changed in Waterland, this is where you have to start thinking, and from then on I was hooked. When I played the game for the first time, I thought that I wouldn't even buy the second part. Now once I finish this part I will get the sequel because iBlast Moki has me hooked. I just don't think it belongs at the absolute top. Among the pluses, I would also include the speed of the game, because each level starts without loading and the whole game moves very pleasantly thanks to the speed. The graphics and soundtrack are also enjoyable. iBlast Moki is €2,39 right now, but very often the game is reduced to €0,79. If you don't want to pay that much or wait for the price to drop, the iBlast Moki 2 is currently at an introductory price of €0,79.
