2025 will be the year in which Apple will introduce a new iPhone SE model. It will be its 4th generation and we can expect it in a year, i.e. in the spring, when except for September, Apple presents new iPhones, whether SE models or just color variants of the current series. Now information has leaked that the iPhone SE 4 will have an OLED display and it's really interesting.

What is the main advantage of the iPhone SE? So, at least in the eyes of Apple, it is an affordable device. At the time of the presentation, it is supposed to be the cheapest iPhone, but it has new hardware, at least in the case of the chip. Therefore, it should not lose in its performance with the current portfolio (in the future with the basic series). Until now, Apple used the old chassis, which was able to reduce its costs to a minimum and thereby also increase the margin.

New approach, same strategy?

But the iPhone SE 4 is supposed to be different, in many ways. As the first available iPhone, it should not be based on any older chassis, so at least not in a 1:1 way, there will of course be some inspiration here, but it will be a new body. And in the new body there is also supposed to be a "new" and finally frameless display, and it is a surprise what it will be like. Considering the desired price, we would expect Apple to ditch OLED and go for LCD. This would fundamentally differentiate the equipment of the SE model from the basic series, for which it could be worthwhile for many to pay extra, whereby Apple would once again achieve its goal - it would get more money from customers.

In the end, however, it should be different. There will be no LCD from the iPhone XR or iPhone 11, but OLED, straight from the iPhone 13. So the cutout will remain (but the reduced one) and the Dynamic Island will be missing, but this is still very positive news. Apple reportedly has these displays left in stock, so it will make good use of them. Reusing technology from older iPhones is a good way to minimize costs as all R&D work has already been completed and is verified with suppliers also having all manufacturing challenges resolved.

Although the iPhone SE falls into the so-called entry level type of device. It lures users into the company's ecosystem, and they then buy a better and more expensive model. Therefore, the portfolio always has and will have meaning, no matter what it is. In the end, however, the iPhone SE 4 may not be bad, even if we are talking about the display from the iPhone 13, when Apple will present the iPhone 16 this September. Except for the Dynamic Island, there are not many changes here. Indeed, if we compare the display of the iPhone 13 with the iPhone 15, the novelty has only slightly higher brightness and a few more pixels (specifically, 24 in height and 9 in width). So with all that we already know about the iPhone SE 4, in the end it can be a really good phone that will make you forget the fiasco of the previous 3rd generation.
