Huawei is one of the technological predators. It offers products of all categories. Therefore, it is surprising that the CFO of the company relies on Apple devices.

Meng Wanzhou grabbed the headlines of many tech sites when she was arrested by Canadian police in Vancouver. Here, in December, she tried to circumvent US sanctions against Iran. China's reaction did not take long and "in return" two Canadian citizens were also detained.

But let's leave politics aside. Much more interesting was what the police found when they searched Meng Wanzhou's equipment. Although she is a top representative of Huawei, they found an Apple device in her luggage.

Meng had an iPhone 7 Plus, MacBook Air and iPad Pro with her at the meeting, which is decent equipment for a representative of a competing company. The media did not forgive the jokes that Meng seems to belong to the camp of supporters of traditional computers, when she added a MacBook Air to the iPad Pro.

Of course, the police also discovered a Huawei phone. It was the last Huawei P20 Porsche Edition. It is a top-of-the-range phone with premium design in its class.

But Meng's fate will not be so funny anymore. Huawei has very strict internal regulations, especially when it comes to brand representation. Recently, two employees of the company were suspended, who tweeted on New Year's Day from their iPhones. Although it is unlikely that the founder's daughter would face such a fate, she will certainly not avoid some form of punishment.

Huawei's face also caught with an iPhone

Czech readers will certainly be familiar with a similar case in which hockey player Jaromír Jágr figured. He is officially the face of the Huawei brand, but he was caught using his private iPhone on the Instagram social network. In the end, he "slid out" of the whole situation by claiming that he only uses the iPhone for private purposes and always uses a Huawei device when representing himself.

Meanwhile, the great rivalry between Huawei and Apple continues in one of the most economically important markets, namely China. Domestic manufacturers are currently on top, and Apple is losing more and more. When it comes to technology, the Chinese are very picky and compare performance and price a lot, while looking less at design.

Apple is trying to attract new customers, for example, by means of special discount events, when the Chinese buy the iPhone XR cheaper than in the rest of the world. Cupertino also only sells iPhone XR, XS and XS Max in China with two physical SIM slots. The legislation there does not allow eSIM to function.
