Chinese phone and tablet manufacturers are already known for often taking inspiration from their competitors. Even Huawei, which yesterday presented its newest addition to the tablet line, is not trying to hide it. Its new MatePad Pro bears a striking resemblance to Apple's iPad Pro. And not only the design of the device itself is the same, but even the charging method of the included stylus, which is similar in many ways to the Apple Pencil.

Looking at the MatePad Pro, it is immediately clear to every Apple fan where Huawei took inspiration from when designing its tablet. The narrow frames, rounded corners of the display and the overall design of the front of the tablet seem to have disappeared from the iPad Pro. The keyboard is also very similar, in many ways reminiscent of Apple's Smart Keyboard Folio.

When viewed from the front, basically only the location of the camera differs. While Apple integrated it into the frame, Huawei opted for a hole (often referred to as a punch-hole) in the display, which has been appearing a lot on Android smartphones lately. The MatePad Pro is thus the first ever tablet to have a front camera built into the display in this way. Specifically, it is a camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels. On the back we find a second 13-megapixel camera.

However, Huawei was not only inspired by the design of its latest tablet, but also by the way the Apple Pencil charges. The stylus, which is part of the MatePad Pro package, is also charged after being attached to the upper edge of the tablet using a magnet. Once charging begins, an indicator very similar to the one on the iPad Pro will appear on the display near the top edge.

If we ignore the similarity with the tablet from Apple, then the MatePad Pro still has a lot to impress. It is a fairly well-equipped device that has the Kirin 990 processor from the Mate 30 Pro flagship smartphone, 6 or 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. Inside, we also find a large battery with a capacity of 7 mAh, which supports super fast charging with a power of 250 W, wireless charging with a power of 40 W and even reverse wireless charging, so the tablet can also serve as a wireless charger for other devices. The display has a diagonal of 15 inches and offers a resolution of 10,8×2560 (ratio 1600:16), with the fact that, according to the manufacturer, it covers 10% of the front of the tablet.

Huawei MatePad Pro will go on sale on December 12 for 3 yuan (less than 299 crowns). It will initially be available in China, and it is not yet clear when or if it will be sold in other markets. However, Huawei plans to offer a more equipped version of the tablet with 11G support, which will go on sale next year.
