Starting today, you can play virtually all PlayStation 4 games on your iPhone or iPad. Sony has released an iOS version of the Remote Play application that allows you to stream content from your PS4 to another device. Until now, only owners of Xperia and PlayStation Vita phones had this option, but now it's also available on mobile devices from Apple.

Remote Play is one of the most interesting services from Sony and is especially ideal for those who cannot connect their PlayStation 4 to the TV, or for whatever reason want to play console games on another device. Until now, it was possible to stream games to a Mac or PC in this way, but now, after more than four years, you can also enjoy them on an iPhone or iPad.

To start streaming, simply turn on your PS4, download the Remote Play app from the App Store, and sign in with the same PlayStation Network account as your console. Once you do so, the two devices will automatically connect and you can start playing. All communication takes place wirelessly, so iPhone/iPad and PS4 need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. The faster the connection, the smoother the image transfer will be.

There are a few limitations due to iOS limitations. It is not possible to connect DualShock 4 to iPhone or iPad, which brings with it many difficulties. Either you need to get an MFi-certified controller, or you can use the virtual buttons directly on the iOS device's display. In the second mentioned case, however, the control of the games is quite complicated and, above all, you cover the image with your hand. Simple games are difficult to control in this way.

Compatibility is also limited. You can only use Remote Play on iPhone 7 or later, iPad 12.1th generation, and iPad Pro XNUMXnd generation or later. The minimum system version is iOS XNUMX.
