Ustwo developer studio, creator of the popular mobile game Monument Valley, today published an infographic on its website with a range of data regarding the development process and subsequent sales. They show that the development of a quality application that reaches the top of the App Store charts and is awarded by Apple itself does not have to be a cheap matter at all. On the other hand, Monument Valley brought the London studio millions of profits.

According to the published infographic, it took Ustwo studio's eight-person team 55 weeks to complete the game, or more than one year of work. At the same time, the costs rose to 852 thousand dollars, which is almost 20,5 million crowns. On the first day of sales in the App Store alone, $145 was returned to creators. The day was also the most successful in the game's history so far.

To date, sales total more than 5,8 million dollars, i.e. 139 million crowns. Downloads from the App Store contributed the most to this amount, followed by Google Play and the Amazon Appstore. In 9 months of sales, the studio managed to get its application on a total of 10 million devices. Since there are only a fraction of official sales - 2,4 million - a significant portion of customers are either those who own multiple devices under the same account, use the app sharing option within the family or download the game illegally.

Another interesting figure is the amount invested in the development of the named extension Forgotten Shores. The studio invested $549 in the new levels, which is almost two-thirds of the original cost. However, in App Store reviews, many users complained about having to pay for the extension.

You can find the entire infographic at the Monument Valley developer blog, the game itself then for the current amount of 3,99 euros (plus 1,99 euros for the Forgotten Shores expansion) in the store App Store.
