Active corners in the macOS operating system are actually configured actions that occur when the cursor is moved to one of the four corners of the desktop. A different action can be configured for each of the active corners. How to set up and use Active Corners on Mac?

The Active Corners feature on Mac allows you to trigger selected actions by simply moving the cursor to that corner. This gives you instant access to common features like Mission Control, Screen Saver, Lock Screen and many more.

In macOS, you can choose one of the following actions for each of the active corners:

  • Mission Control
  • Application windows
  • Flat
  • Notification Center
  • Launchpad
  • A quick note
  • Start the screen saver
  • Turn off the screen saver
  • Put the monitor to sleep
  • Lock screen

Active corners on Mac can make working with the desktop much more efficient. Instead of having to search for these actions (or remember the trackpad gestures for each one), just drag the cursor to the appropriate corner for that action.

How to set up Active Corners

The path to setting up Active Corners on Mac may not be intuitive for beginners. However, you can run  menu -> System settings and simply type "Active Corners" into the search field under System Settings. You can also click in the left pane of the System Settings window Desktop and Dock and then in the main section, head all the way down, where you'll find a button in the bottom right corner Active corners.

Once you start the Active Corners setup, the configuration itself is a breeze, and everything is very intuitive. In front of you, you will see a preview of your Mac monitor surrounded by four drop-down menus. The location of each menu corresponds to the corner you can set. All you have to do is click on the drop-down menu in the corresponding corner and select the desired action. So, for example, if you want your Mac to lock after you point the mouse cursor to the bottom left corner of the screen, select the item in the drop-down menu at the bottom left Lock screen. In this way, you can gradually configure all four active corners exactly to your liking.
