If you rely on Apple's native Notes on Mac (and not only) to jot down ideas or sync your hectic life with priorities, the following tips can boost your productivity. Moreover, they can also help you to ideally customize the app according to your workflows. Here's a handy roundup of tips and tricks to help you get the most out of native Notes on your Mac.

Camera in Continuity for scanning documents

The smart camera function in Continuity was already introduced in the macOS Mojave operating system. With this thoughtful feature, you can quickly add a photo to a note on your Mac or scan a document with your iPhone. Just click on the media icon in the upper part of the window in the given note, choose Scan documents and select your iOS or iPadOS device.

Pinning notes

If you have multiple entries in Notes and Mac at once, it can sometimes be tedious to find the one you want to refer to repeatedly. Wouldn't it be great if you could display a frequently used list right at the top? This is where pinning comes in. To pin a note, simply right-click on it and select an option Pin a note. It will now appear at the top along with a pin icon.

"Floating" notes

Let's say you've created an extensive schedule of things you need to do today while working on your Mac. And you have to jump into it again and again to make sure you're on schedule. At times like these, you may find the function that displays the selected note in the form of a floating window on your Mac screen useful. First, select the note in question, then click on the bar at the top of your Mac screen Window -> Open note in new window. Then click again on the bar at the top of the screen Window and select Keep in the foreground.

Import a file into Notes

The Notes app makes it fairly easy to import content. So if you want to import some related stuff while creating the agenda, just click on the File menu on the bar at the top of the screen and choose Import to Notes. Then select the file and click the button Import. Finally click on Import and confirm. It will be added to the section Imported notes.
