Chrome is about to block performance-hungry ads

The macOS operating system offers a native Safari application for web browsing. Despite this, many users still rely on Google's rival Chrome, which they may be used to from Windows. Currently, a new message appeared on the Chromium blog, in which a new feature was introduced. Google is planning to block all ads that unnecessarily use up the operating power of the device and thus reduce the overall endurance and life of the battery. Among these ads we can include, for example, those that use the power of the host device and mine cryptocurrencies, and that have been poorly programmed/optimized. The new feature should arrive in Chrome at the end of August and will somehow limit each advertisement. Once it reaches its limit, Chrome will display a static window instead, informing the user of a heavy ad. A number of apple growers reacted relatively promptly to this news. According to them, using Chrome alone is allegedly draining the battery, and most people with Chrome use AdBlock anyway. Which side of the barricade are you on? Do you think this is a perfect novelty, or do you prefer to keep your hands off the browser from Google's workshop on your Mac?

Spotify internet player returns to Safari

About two years ago, Spotify stopped supporting the Safari browser for its internet player. At that time, we didn't even receive any proper explanation and simply had to be content with the decision. But a while after that, it turned out that a plugin called Widevine, which Spotify was using, could be to blame. This plugin did not meet the security conditions of the apple browser, due to which the entire service had to be cut off. After a long wait, we finally got it and Spotify is running smoothly again on Safari. Although the Swedish giant did not make any announcement about the new supported browser, a user informed us about the news wolfStroker from Reddit. But it may happen that even now the Internet player will not work for you. In that case, you should try updating it, or try running it in an incognito window.

Foxconn's profit down 90% year-on-year

The current coronavirus crisis has claimed many lives and unleashed an economic crisis. Various businesses and factories had to be closed to prevent the possible spread of the disease. Of course, even the Chinese Foxconn did not avoid this. The company is known as one of the most important links in the Apple supply chain and manufactures iPhones, iPads and many other components for Apple. However, their profit has now dropped by an incredible 90 percent year-on-year to 2,1 Taiwan dollars (roughly 1,9 billion crowns). Of course, the closure of factories and, above all, significantly lower demand from Apple and other customers are to blame. Profits have hit a 20-year low. but according to Foxconn, a kind of stabilization should occur already in the second quarter of this year. Of course, this is a long run and it will take some time to get back to normal. Currently, I am also wondering how the smart product market will fare, which could possibly help Foxconn.
