Even this week, we will not miss another part of our column on the history of Apple products on Jablíčkára. This time, the choice fell on a product whose history is relatively short - the iPad Pro. Let's briefly summarize its beginnings and gradual development up to the recently released latest generation.

At the moment, the fifth generation of iPad Pro is already in the world. The first product from this line was presented in September 2015. The diagonal of its display was 12,9", and its sale was officially launched in November of the same year. It was the first iPad with LPDDR4 RAM and allowed users to use the Apple Pencil to work on it. In March 2016, Apple came up with a smaller, 9,7” version of the iPad Pro. Users had to wait two years for the second generation. In June 2017, Apple introduced the iPad Pro, which was equipped with the A10X Fusion processor and was available in 64 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB storage versions. The previous 9,7" iPad Pro has been replaced by a 10,5" model, and the 12,9" version has been updated. At the same time, Apple stopped selling both previous generation iPads. The third generation iPad Pro was introduced at the end of October 2018 and was available in 11" and 12,9" variants. The third-generation iPad Pro boasted a full-screen display, a new 1T B variant and the Face ID function. It was also the first iPad Pro to feature a USB-C port. Users could purchase a Smart Keyboard Folio cover for these iPad Pros.

In March 2020, the fourth generation iPad Pro was introduced. The dimensions of the displays remained the same as in the case of the previous generation, but the new models received improved cameras, an A12Z processor and a LiDAR scanner. Users could purchase a Magic Keyboard with a trackpad to accompany them. The fifth-generation iPad Pro is really fresh — Apple introduced it last week at its Spring Keynote. The design and display sizes have remained the same, but the latest iPad Pro is equipped with an M1 chip from Apple, offers 5G connectivity, support for Thunderbolt and USB 4, and support for up to 6K external displays. The 12,9” variant of the fifth-generation iPad Pro is equipped with a Liquid Retina XDR display with mini-LED backlighting.
