Are you a Mac owner? If so, do you own a MacBook or an iMac? Many iMac owners - but also some Apple laptop owners - use a device called the Magic Trackpad, among other things, to work on their computer. We will recall the history of this device in our today's article.

In addition to computers and other similar devices, the products that came out of Apple's workshop include various peripherals. One of them is the Magic Trackpad. Its first generation was presented by the Cupertino company at the end of July 2010. The first generation Magic Trackpad offered Bluetooth connectivity, and a pair of classic pencil batteries took care of the energy supply. The Magic Trackpad featured a very simple, minimalist design, and was made of glass and aluminum. The device supported multi-touch gestures. At the time of its release, the first generation Magic Trackpad received praise for its dimensions, design and functions, but its price, which was disproportionately high not only for ordinary users, but also for journalists and experts, was not met with a very positive reception.

In October 2015, Apple introduced its second generation Magic Trackpad. It was equipped with a multi-touch surface with Force Touch support, and along with it, Apple also introduced the new generation Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse. Unlike its predecessor, the Magic Trackpad 2 was charged via a Lightning cable, and included a Taptic Engine for haptic feedback, among other things. Along with the release of the Magic Trackpad 2, Apple also discontinued the first generation Magic Trackpad.

The Magic Trackpad 2 has been met with positive reviews from the general public, journalists and experts alike, with praise mainly for its improved new features. The surface of the Magic Trackpad 2 is made of matte durable glass, the device also offers support for Windows, Linux, Android or even Chrome OS operating systems. When Apple introduced its new iMacs in 2021, color-coordinated Magic Trackpads were part of their package, but they could not be purchased separately.
