Today, the world is dominated primarily by larger smartphones, but there is still a group of users who, for whatever reason, prefer smaller displays. It was this group that Apple decided to cater to in March 2016 when it introduced its iPhone SE – a small phone reminiscent of the popular iPhone 5S in design, but equipped with more advanced hardware and functions.

During the March 21, 2016 Apple Keynote titled Let us loop you in, George Joswiak announced during it that Apple managed to sell more than thirty million iPhones with a 2015” display in 4, and also explained that a certain group of users prefers this size despite the growing trend of phablets. During this Keynote, the new iPhone SE was also introduced, which Joswiak described as the most powerful 4” smartphone ever. The weight of this model was 113 grams, the iPhone SE was equipped with an A9 chip from Apple and an M9 motion coprocessor. Along with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, it was also the last iPhone model to feature a 3,5mm headphone jack. The iPhone SE was available in gold, silver, space gray and rose gold, and was sold in 16GB and 64GB storage variants, with 2017GB and 32GB variants added in March 128.

The iPhone SE was received mostly with enthusiasm by both regular users and experts. The positive feedback was mainly due to the inclusion of relatively powerful hardware in a small body, and the iPhone SE thus became a great choice for those who wanted a newer iPhone, but for whatever reason did not like the dimensions of the "six" iPhones. Reviewers praised the iPhone SE's battery life, new features, and design, with TechCrunch even calling the model "the best phone ever made."
