Apple released its iPhone 5s in 2013. The surprisingly revolutionary successor to the iPhone 5 was officially unveiled on September 10, released ten days later alongside the cheaper, colorful iPhone 5C.

Although it did not differ significantly in design from its predecessor, the iPhone 5s, there were actually quite significant differences between the two devices. In terms of appearance, the iPhone 5s received a new design in the form of a combination of gold and white, the other variants were white/silver and black/space gray.

The iPhone 5s was equipped with a new dual-core 64-bit A7 processor - the first time such a processor was used in a smartphone. The M7 coprocessor helped with the performance. The novelty was the Home Button, equipped with the then revolutionary Touch ID fingerprint sensor, with the help of which it was possible to unlock the phone and make purchases in the App Store and iTunes Store. The iPhone 5s camera received an improved aperture and a dual LED flash with optimization for different color temperatures.

Another significant change was the arrival of iOS 7. This update of Apple's mobile operating system brought with it significant changes in terms of design and functionality, in which designer Jony Ive also participated. Along with the iPhone 5s, Apple also introduced the AirDrop feature, enabling quick and easy file transfer between Apple devices. The iPhone 5s also had the ability to share a Wi-Fi connection, a new Control Center with the possibility of quick access to the main functions, and another novelty was the iTunes Radio service. Included in the package were EarPods.

The iPhone 5s was generally received positively by users. Many people considered this model to be the best ever available on the market. The Touch ID function, the redesigned iOS 7 operating system, as well as functions that we take for granted today - such as AirDrop or the Control Center - were enthusiastically received.

In the first weekend after the official release, Apple managed to sell a record nine million units of the iPhone 5s, in September 2013 this model became the best-selling phone for all major carriers in the United States. Even today, there is a significant number of users calling for a more compact iPhone with a smaller display and high-quality internal equipment, but Apple has not yet listened to them.

Remember the iPhone 5s? Have you owned one? And do you think Apple wouldn't make a mistake by releasing a smaller model?
