Among the products that Apple presented at its autumn Keynote this year was the iPad mini, among others. This is already the sixth generation of this small tablet from the workshop of the Cupertino company. On this occasion, in today's part of the history of Apple products, we will remember the arrival of the first generation of the iPad mini.

Apple introduced its iPad mini during its Keynote held on October 23, 2012 at the California Theater in San Jose. In addition to this tiny tablet, Tim Cook also presented the world with new MacBooks, Mac Minis, iMacs and fourth-generation iPads. The official launch of iPad mini sales took place on November 2, 2012. The first generation iPad mini was equipped with an Apple A5 chip and equipped with a 7,9” display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. The iPad mini was available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB storage variants, and users could purchase either a Wi-Fi only version or a Wi-Fi + Cellular version. The iPad mini was also equipped with a rear 5MP and a front 1,2MP camera, and charging took place via the Lightning connector. The first generation iPad mini offered support for operating systems iOS 6 – iOS 9.3.6 (in the case of the Wi-Fi variant iOS 9.3.5), and was also the only iPad mini that did not offer some multitasking features, such as Slide Over or Picture in Picture .

Reviews of the first generation iPad mini were mostly very positive. Tech server editors who had the opportunity to try this new product in 2012 praised its compact dimensions, as well as its design, application offer and functions. On the other hand, the absence of a Retina display in this model was met with a negative assessment. Apple discontinued the 32GB and 64GB variants of its first-generation iPad mini during the second half of October 2013, the 16GB variant was officially discontinued on June 19, 2015. The first-generation iPad mini was succeeded by the second-generation iPad mini on October 22, 2013 , while the sale of this model was officially launched on November 12, 2013.
