It's like walking through an art gallery. Each image evokes different emotions in me. Enthusiasm and childlike playfulness alternate with anxiety and fear. I enjoy every detail that pleases my eye. Literally balm for the soul.

Don't worry, I'm not crazy. I'm just expressing my feelings that I experienced while playing the new game Old Man's Journey by Broken Rules Studio. Basically, it is not a game as such, but rather a modern work of art supplemented with interactive elements. Old Man's Journey tells the story of an old man whose door one day the postman rings with a letter in hand. The man reads it, grabs his backpack, his walking stick and sets off. At first you have no idea where it is going.

The story is composed gradually. You will soon understand that once upon a time this man had a wife and a family. However, I won't tell you what happened next, because I would deprive you of the whole meaning of the game. You won't find a single word or dialogue in the game either. The main character just sits down from time to time and starts reminiscing nostalgically. In the meantime, however, you can enjoy spectacular images and graphics that even Pixar wouldn't be ashamed of.

Old Man's Journey already captivated me a few weeks ago with the first trailer. As soon as the game came out, I didn't hesitate for a minute. The joke is that you have to guide the old man from point A to point B. Once you click on a place, the character will go there. In the very first level, however, you will encounter a small snag. The path is not as straightforward as it might seem at first glance. Your primary task in the game is to move the surface and change it so that the character can pass through without problems.

Just flick up and down and you can immediately see the ground moving under your feet. However, you cannot move the road, hill, or ground you are currently standing on. Thanks to this, in twenty levels you get into precarious situations where you need to engage your brain cells and logical reasoning. I tripped about three times in total, so nothing drastic. All in all, the game can be completed in two hours.

However, I recommend you to choose a slower pace and enjoy not only the great graphics, but also the gentle musical accompaniment. During your journey you will look at different regions, cities, underwater and ride a train or a truck. Sometimes you also have to bring the surrounding elements into play. I finished Old Man's Journey on an iPhone 7 Plus, but in retrospect I regret being impatient and not picking up a big iPad Pro. For that reason, I highly recommend not making the same mistake I did.

It's also not about playing for a few minutes or shortening a long time waiting for the bus. Instead, put on your headphones, turn on Do Not Disturb and relax. If you do all this, I guarantee you that at the end you will not regret the investment of five and a half euros (and soon already crowns). In the end, you will really feel like visiting a gallery.
