Adam Kos A new streaming service has officially arrived in the Czech Republic HBO Max, but previously you could use other streaming platforms with a similar name, namely HBO GO. A few titles have decreased, a few have been added, but above all, the service is more convenient to use, and if you don't hesitate too long, it's also cheaper.
HBO Max is an American subscription-based video-on-demand (VOD) service owned by AT&T WarnerMedia through its subsidiary WarnerMedia Direct. So its purpose is to offer you a comprehensive library of movies, series and documentaries that you can start whenever it suits you for a monthly fee. Apart from our own productions, here you will also find those from the workshops of DC, Warner Bros. or Cartoon Network.

Devices supporting HBO Max You can find here. For Apple devices, i.e. iPhones and iPads, you must have iOS 12.2 or later. You can install the application from App Store. For Mac computers, macOS 10.10 Yosemite or later is required. Supported browsers are the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, but also Safari in version 12 or later. No need for an app on computers, just go to the website hbomax.com and select an option Log in or Register (at the top right).
Regarding televisions, LG or Samsung TVs are supported, as well as Playstation consoles, Xbox or Android TV and of course Apple TV. If you have an Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD with the latest tvOS software, just open the App Store and search for the HBO Max app, install it, then sign in or sign up again. Until March 31, there is an introductory but unlimited 33% discount on HBO Max. Instead of CZK 199, you will pay CZK 132 per month until you cancel the service. The novelty replaces HBO GO, but you can use both titles simultaneously on smart devices, but HBO Max brings many advantages. However, if you switch, your watch history will not be transferred. HBO GO cost 159 CZK. Because of Apple's fees for content purchased through its distribution stores we recommend registering on the website. After clicking on the iOS application in the App Store, it also shows a monthly subscription of CZK 199 and does not include the current discount (or it does, but the difference is just the mentioned fee).

First of all, it is about the quality itself. HBO Max provides content up to 4K quality with HDR and Dolby Atmos (HBO GO offered 1080p). Although there are only a handful of titles, it can be assumed that more will be added. Otherwise, the catalog includes about 1 films and series, most of which have subtitles (with which you can also set the color, background and font), and about half offer dubbing.

But the main thing is the wider use of the whole family. HBO Go only offered one profile, now there are 5 of them, so the content you watch does not mix with what your children watch (which can be used to set a children's profile). The number of concurrent streams has also increased from two to three. In one subscription, he can watch other content on TV, iPhone and even iPad. At the same time, you will no longer see the service watermark in the video and the Skip intro function is present.
The price information is wrong in the article. The application directly offers a discount of 33% in the case of an annual payment, i.e. 1590 crowns. The monthly plan appears without a discount, but when registering on the website, only a monthly payment is offered, so the resulting price is practically the same. So it doesn't matter if you register on the website with a monthly payment or in the app with an annual payment - the price will be the same and therefore with a 33% discount.

Well, what is the difference between HBO max and HBO go? When I ask someone if they have HBO, they say they have HBO GO. I have HBO max. How is it different? Elsewhere they write that max has completely replaced GO. I have max and I have the app on my tablet and TV. Am I to understand that GO is simply a program on television?
