The movie Aquaman, which arrived in theaters a few weeks ago, appeared on torrent servers in recent days. There would be nothing too special about that, various forms of CAMs and similar formats appear relatively early on torrents. In this case, however, it is a full-fledged 4K copy that has not yet reached the distribution channels, with the exception of Apple TV or iTunes.

The video file is marked as a "4K Web-DL" version which usually means that it is a file downloaded from some web streaming service. And since neither Amazon Prime Video nor Netflix have Aquaman in 4K in their library, the leak could only have come from one place - the iTunes library.

This would mean that the DRM protection that Apple uses for its images in the iTunes library has been broken for the first time ever. This is definitely good news for pirates and warez fans, on the other hand, Apple should be worried because the leak of Aquaman may mean that they have found a reliable way to illegally steal images from the iTunes library. In addition to the native 4K resolution, the above release also includes 5.1 sound, supports HDR and has all the parameters (h.256, 14,2GB) that Aquaman has in the library.

Probably the most serious thing about the whole case is that if it really is an iTunes library leak, the problem is most likely to be tvOS security. Native 4K content can only be streamed from iTunes to the Apple TV 4K, and if the leak really happened, it must have been that way. More native 4K Web-DL images have appeared on torrent servers in the last few hours. So Apple probably has its hands full with a fix.
