A few days ago I presented Notify, which is an application for Mac users that reports new mail on Gmail. GPush is a similar app that also notifies you of new mail on Gmail, but GPush is designed for iPhone owners.

GPush is really a very simple application. Once launched, you allow the app to send you push notifications, sign in to your Gmail account, and that's it. From now on, every time an email arrives in your Gmail account, your iPhone will also notify you of this fact using a push notification. Login takes place via secure SSL protocols.

The developers mainly had a problem with GPush in the beginning, because it did not work completely correctly. But the new version works great and I often get email notifications more often than my Gmail page updates with new email notifications. It happened here and there that a push notification about an email did not arrive, but the problem could also be on my side. In any case, Tiverius Apps is constantly improving the app.

Are you wondering what's the use of GPush when you have the Mail app on your iPhone? First, Gmail does not yet support push, so notification of new emails is not immediate. The Mail application checks email at certain time intervals. Second, I simply got used to using Gmail's excellent web interface on the iPhone, and thanks to that I got support for labels or keeping emails in a conversation.

GPush is exactly the tool I needed for my work. You can find it in the Appstore for a surprisingly low price of €0,79. If you have a Gmail account, I can only recommend GPush. It's really worth it!
