Welcome to today's Thursday IT roundup, in which we traditionally inform you every day about news and information from the world of technology, except for Apple. In today's summary, in the first news we will look at a new application from Google, in the second news we will take a look together at the new map that will appear in the upcoming Mafia game remake, and in the last news we will talk more about the possible huge increase in the performance of the upcoming graphics card from nVidia.

Google has released a new app for iOS

Some users think that Google apps can't be run on competing devices like Apple (and vice versa). However, the opposite is true and many users prefer competing applications over native ones. Today, Google introduced a new app for iOS called Google One. This application is primarily intended for sharing photos, videos, contacts, calendars, various backups and many other data between individual users. If you download the Google One app, you get 15 GB of free storage, which is 3x more than Apple's iCloud. This too could convince users to start using this service. In Google One, it will be possible to run a file manager, thanks to which users will be able to work with the storage of Google Drive, Google Photos and Gmail. There is also a subscription for $1.99, where the user gets more storage that can be shared with up to five family members. Until now, Google One was only available on Android, as for availability on iOS, according to Google, we will see it soon.

Check out the new Mafia remake map

A few months ago we (finally) got the announcement of the remake of the original Mafia game, along with the remaster of Mafia 2 and 3. While the remastered "two" and "three" didn't get that much attention, the remake of the original Mafia will most likely be legendary. Players have been begging for a remake of this Czech gaming gem for years, and it's definitely good that they got it. After the announcement of the Mafia remake, various question marks appeared, first about the Czech language and the Czech dubbing, and later about the cast. Fortunately, we will see the Czech dubbing, and in addition, the player was also pleased with the cast of dubbers, which in the case of (not only) the two main characters, Tommy and Paulie, remains the same as in the case of the original Mafia. Tommy will be dubbed by Marek Vašut, Paulie by the legendary Petr Rychlý. The Mafia remake was originally supposed to be released in August, but a few days ago the developers informed us of the delay, to September 25th. Of course, the players took this delay more or less in stride, arguing that they'd rather play a proper, finished game than play something unfinished and something that would completely ruin the Mafia's reputation.

So we now know more than enough about the Mafia remake. In addition to the mentioned information, the gameplay itself from the game was also brought to us a few days ago (see above). After watching the players split into two groups, the first group likes the new Mafia and the second obviously doesn't. However, for now, of course, the game has not been released and we should only judge after each of us plays the Mafia remake. Today we received another disclosure from the developers - specifically, we can now look at what the map will look like in the Mafia remaster. As you can probably guess, no big changes are taking place. There was only a change in the names of some locations and the relocation of Salieri's bar. You can see a photo of the original and new map, together with other images, in the gallery below.

Huge performance boost for nVidia's upcoming card

If you've been following nVidia, you've probably already noticed that this well-known graphics card manufacturer is about to introduce a new generation of its cards. One of these new cards should also be the most powerful nVidia RTX 3090. As far as performance is concerned, it was not at all clear how these cards would perform in particular. However, a few hours ago, information appeared on Twitter from well-known leakers that reveal a lot about the performance of the mentioned RTX 3090. Compared to the currently available RTX 2080Ti, the performance increase in the case of the RTX 3090 should be up to 50%. As part of the Time Spy Extreme performance test, the RTX 3090 should reach a score of around 9450 points (6300 points in the case of the 2080Ti). Thus, the 10 point limit is being attacked, which some users who decide to overclock this graphics card after the release should quite possibly get over.
