Google is entering the field with video chat services. It launches the free mobile application Duo, which is supposed to be a direct competitor to well-established services such as FaceTime, Skype or Messenger. It mainly benefits from its simplicity, speed and directness.

Right from the initial launch, you can recognize a hint of a simple concept. Users do not have to create an account, but only use their phone number. This element is complemented by a very decent user environment, which really has the most basic options. As the name suggests, it will be used exclusively for calls between two people. The possibility of video conferences is therefore missing.

Probably the most interesting feature that competing services do not have is "Knock, knock". This feature displays a video call before the call is accepted. With this feature, users should not face any loading problem. As soon as the incoming call in question picks up, it will be connected immediately. However, the strange thing is that this feature is not supported on iOS devices. Among other things, Duo promises end-to-end encryption and a guarantee of smooth calls.

The application is available for free on operating systems iOS a Android. However, it has not yet been launched globally and is missing from the Czech App Store at the time of publishing the article.
