On its blog, Google announced the upcoming new version of its Google Maps application, which will be released for iOS and Android. In particular, the update will bring a new user interface in the form of material design, the design language that Google introduced in Android 5.0 Lollipop. Material Design goes in a slightly different direction than iOS, it is partly skeuomorphic and uses, for example, drop shadows to distinguish individual layers.
According to the images released by Google, the app will be dominated by blue, especially for icons, accents and bars. However, the application environment should be similar to the previous application. In addition to the new design, Uber integration will be added to the application, which will display the estimated time of arrival of the Uber driver in addition to information about public transport. Among other things, this service has already reached the Czech Republic. However, the Uber functionality will only appear to users with the service's app installed.
A service was added for American users OpenTable, through which they can make reservations at supported restaurants directly from the app. The new maps will be downloadable as an update to the existing application, but Google only mentions the iPhone in its blog, so it is possible that we will see the new version on the iPad a little later. On the other hand, Android tablets will receive the update at the same time as the iPhone. The official release date has not yet been set, but it should probably happen in the next few days or weeks.

So I finally replaced Google Maps with Apple Maps. I don't understand where Google is going with the design of its services. It's so gross that it once made me quit using Google Plus. Now Google Maps. It just bothers me to such an extent that I won't bite it. Now I just have to figure out what to replace the Gmail app on iOS with when they redesign it too :-D
Me, just so that those apple maps don't navigate you into some hole :-)
well, recently apple maps work better than google, google will show you the detour but apple maps can order it to the right place....
But Apple Maps doesn't know the traffic according to which you can avoid queues in advance...
It can do this a bit better than google, at least in Prague and on almost all highways.
Apple maps navigate better than Google. Finding places is definitely harder, but once you find a place, navigation is better in Apple Maps. By the way, that new Google maps icon, it's like what? They hate the icon so much that people look at it...
Jojo, I'm navigating the hole again, literally :-)

Google thinks a person will say wow and go buy an android. For example, I don't understand how there is "Traffic, Public Transport and Bike" next to each other and "Satellite View, Terrain and Google Earth" in the same pile.
