As the service launch date approaches Apple Music, Google does not want to rest on its laurels and understandably wants to keep its customers. For this purpose, he has now taken an interesting step, he is starting to offer streaming playlists for free, but with ads. Google is launching the new model in the United States, there is no information yet on expansion to other countries. The playlists are already available on the web, and should arrive on the Android and iOS apps soon.

Google wants to avoid the model used by Spotify, which is often criticized for its way of offering music for free. In Spotify, you can play any song for free, which is then interspersed with advertising. Google has chosen a different strategy: the user will only be able to choose a music radio based on his mood or taste for free, and Google Play Music will then select the songs for him. That is, it is not selected by a machine, but similar to the Apple Music playlist, each radio station is selected by music experts.

Free music on Google Play Music can't be expected to provide the same benefits as subscriptions. There will be various restrictions. When listening to the radio for free, you will be able to skip a song up to six times per hour, you will not know in advance which song will come next, or you will not be able to rewind it. What is very interesting, on the other hand, is that even non-paying users will be able to stream music in 320kbps quality, which, for example, Spotify does not offer at all.
