The rivalry between Apple and Microsoft has been going on for several decades, practically since the very creation of both companies. And although the two competitors have also worked together in the past, they have always tried to show customers the advantages of their operating system and the disadvantages of the other. Now, however, Google has entered the fray, poking at both the giant from Redmond and the one from Cupertino in its Chromebook advertisement.

Google specifically points to frequent errors and security holes in both systems. In the sixty-second advertisement, there is literally a whirlwind of various error messages from Windows and macOS. Of course, there is also the famous blue death or the legendary rainbow wheel signaling loading in the Apple system. And although more attention was paid to Microsoft, even Apple did not leave empty-handed, as Google showed several windows informing about an unexpected restart of the computer or full storage.

In the second half of the ad, Google highlights the advantages of its Pixelbook – touch screen, stylus support, the ability to rotate the display, one-day battery life, protection against viruses, automatic updates, quick start of the system and applications, and an overall modern system.

However, Chrome OS also has several disadvantages, which, of course, Google does not mention in the advertisement. The system for Chromebooks is limited in many ways compared to macOS or Windows, and above all it does not offer a number of full-fledged applications. Although it can run Android applications, the customer often expects a little more from a machine for 25 CZK.
