This week, Google sent out a warning to some users of its Google Photos service that some of the videos stored on the service had been leaked. Due to a bug, some videos were mistakenly saved in other people's archives when downloaded through the tool Takeout. A serious error already occurred at the end of November last year, when some users could experience an incomplete export after downloading data. In addition, other users' videos could also become part of the downloaded data. Google started notifying affected users only now. It is not yet clear how many people have been affected by this error.

Duo Security co-founder Jon Oberheide posted screenshots of the aforementioned warning email on Twitter earlier this week. In it, Google states, among other things, that the error occurred due to technical problems. Although they have already been fixed, the company nevertheless encourages users to delete previously exported content archives from the Google Photos service and perform a new export. From the email it appears that most likely only videos were exported, not photos.

After Jon Oberheide received the aforementioned informational email, he asked Google to specifying the number of videos, which was affected by this error. The company was unable to specify. Google does not even state the exact number of affected users, but they say about 0,01%.
