The social network Google+, which Google launched two and a half years ago, has apparently not yet come close to the popularity that they painted in Mountain View. How else to explain another controversial step that Google is now taking in the fight with Facebook. It is now possible to send e-mails from Google+ to users without knowing the e-mail address of the other...

If someone wants to send you an email on Google+ but doesn't know your address, all you have to do now is fill in your name associated with your account on the Google social network and the message will arrive in your email inbox. Although Google on its blog he claims, that the person sending you the message will not find out your e-mail until you reply to him, but nevertheless, a wave of indignation against this move was raised among the ranks of the professional and lay public.

Such a fundamental change, which can greatly violate your privacy or at least overwhelm your e-mail box with unwanted messages, is that Google has implemented an opt-out mechanism, which means that all users can now freely receive e-mails from Google+ users and, if they do not want to, they have to log out manually. At the same time, an opt-in mechanism would make much more sense, where each user could freely decide in advance whether they want to use such a function.

However, disabling email sending from Google+ accounts is easy and can be done by following these steps:

  1. Sign in at www.gmail.com to your account that you also use on Google+.
  2. In the upper right corner, click on the gear icon and select from the menu Settings.
  3. In the tab In general find an offer Sending emails via Google+ and check the desired setting in the corresponding box. Tick if you don't want to receive any emails from Google+ No one.
  4. Finally, don't forget to save the new settings by clicking the button Save Changes at the bottom of the screen.
