A recent leak revealed that Google is testing an incognito mode in its Maps. It should work in a similar way to Chrome, with anonymity related to navigation and location history. If you activate incognito mode in Google Maps, Google will not associate any of the locations with your Google Account, which is certainly a welcome improvement for many users.

This news is part of Google's efforts to improve user privacy. Company on its blog introduced, that the incognito mode, which is already a part of Chrome or YouTube, will be available for both Android and iOS devices. After users activate incognito mode on their Google Maps, location tracking and location searches will be suspended, and Maps will not be personalized.

It will be possible to activate the anonymous mode directly in the menu that appears after clicking on the user's profile picture, and it will also be possible to turn it off in the same way. When incognito mode is turned on, recommended restaurants, traffic information and other tailored features will not be displayed. According to Google, the incognito mode will be available first to Android device owners, and later also to Apple users.

In addition to incognito mode, Google also announced the ability to automatically delete YouTube history — similar to automatically deleting location or activity history in apps and on the web. In addition, Google Assistant will also be able to deal with commands related to privacy. Users will be able to use Google Assistant to delete the relevant activity from their Google account using commands such as "Hey Google, delete the last thing I said to you" or "Hey Google, delete everything I said to you last week". These changes happen automatically and the user does not need to activate them in any way. Users who use Google's password manager will be notified if any of their passwords have been breached in the past and will be prompted to improve their security.
