Colors, currently the most popular topic around the upcoming iPhones. Apple historically expanded the color variations of its phone for the first time in 2008, when it offered a 3GB version with a white back cover in addition to the black 16G. iPhone 4 had to wait three quarters of a year for its white counterpart. Since then, the white and black versions have been released simultaneously, and this also applies to iPads. On the other hand, there are a number of iPods, including the iPod touch, which in its last iteration came in a total of six colors (including the RED edition).
The latest component leaks, whose authenticity cannot be confirmed, suggest that the iPhone 5S should come in gold. This information seems meaningless at first; why would Apple abandon its classic black and white selection? And especially for such a flashy and somewhat cheap color? Editor-in-chief of the server iMore Rene Ritchie came up with an interesting argument. The gold color seems to be the most popular modification. Currently, there are several companies that offer color change using aluminum anodization, the same process used by Apple. What's more, gold like this color is easier to apply to aluminum than, for example, black.
Gold isn't actually a completely new color for Apple. He already used it at iPod mini. Due to its low popularity, however, it was soon withdrawn. However, the golden shade is coming back into fashion and is very popular in, for example, China or India, two important strategic markets for Apple. MG Siegler, editor TechCrunch, however, based on information from their sources, they claim that it will not be the bright gold that most of us imagine at first, but a much more subdued color sampan. Based on this, he created a server iMore for a photo of what such an iPhone (assuming it has the same shape as the iPhone 5) could look like, see above.
The addition of a new color has additional meaning, especially for owners of older phones. This would widen the gap between successive generations, and the new color could be another reason for customers to buy an iPhone 5S instead of waiting for the next generation — it just wouldn't look quite the same as last year's model.
Even more interesting is the situation with the colors of the speculated iPhone 5C, which should be a cheaper variant of the phone. Various photos of alleged back covers of the phone have been surfacing on the internet for the past few months, coming in multiple colors, namely black, white, blue, green, yellow, and pink. Such a strategy makes sense, Apple would attract customers with a lower budget not only with a lower price, but also with a colorful offer. For now, the high-end iPhone would offer three colors, two classic and one brand new as a healthy compromise. In addition, as MG Siegler notes, California is called the "golden state of the USA", which perfectly complements the "Designed in California" campaign.
I hope it won't be gold, then I would have a very difficult decision to make :-D But at least the logo stands out here.
I already had the white 3G in the 16 GB version, wasn't the 3GS mentioned in the article earlier?
No, the iPhone 3G was never officially white.
What?! They were iPhone 3G, of course, and in 16GB. Man, you're starting to fall a bit, school mistakes like that...
Be glad this article doesn't use the word "iconic". Or "literally iconic".
But he was, I had a white one.
I had a 3G, so they must have been produced :)
But it was still black from the front, wasn't it? That's what I think it's about...
gold will be great because it will stand out. I hope it will be at least 10 more expensive :)
The white iPhone was already 3G, but it was only sold in the 16GB version. 8GB was only black
Let's say the aluminum body will be gold/champagne… What colors will the top and bottom back covers and front of the phone be? All gold looks very cheesy to me. The combination of gold/white or gold/black doesn't strike me as a lucky combination from a design point of view, more like a zigzag type Z out of necessity virtue! Am I the only one???
Gentlemen, the iPhone 3G was officially available in white. Like the 3GS, only the rear plastic cover was white. However, the iPhone 3G was only available in white in the 16GB version. The first white iPhone, even on the front, was up to 4, followed by 4S, 5.
